The Scottdale Historical Society is proud to announce the second annual parking meter decorating contest, Deck the Meters.

Participants will be decorating the parking meters along Pittsburgh Street, Stoner Street, Spring Street and South Chestnut Street.

Deck the Meters is open to organizations, families, businesses, individuals and churches.

We look forward to seeing the many creative designs that will bring festive cheer to downtown Scottdale through the end of the year.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN 'DECK THE METERS'
Registration can be done by filling out our online form or in person at the Scottdale Library during normal business hours.

Registration deadline is Monday, November 25, 2024.

There are a limited number of meters available, so register ASAP.

Meter assignments will be announced no later than Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Installation of decorations from November 28 through December 5, 2024.

Winners will be announced on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

CONTEST RULES AND RESTRICTIONS
Only one meter per family, organization, or group.

No political signs or endorsements are permitted. Decor must be family friendly.

Meter decorations should not be taller than 72 inches and no more than 30 inches in diameter.

Use waterproof/windproof materials; decorations will be in place for over a month.

Do not use paint on the meter head, post, or sidewalk.

Do not attach anything of value to the parking meter.

Decoration must not impede pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk.

Decoration must not extend into the street or block parking spaces.

All meter decorations must remain in place until December 31, 2024 and must be removed before January 2, 2025.
